On April 27, Gong's Dražen Hoffmann attended the annual human rights conference of the House of Human Rights in Zagreb, as a guest speaker on the panel "Suppressing the spread of false information", together with a researcher on the Pro-Fact project and a professor from the Faculty of Political Science Milica Vučković, Viktorija Car, a professor from the Faculty of Political Science of Science in Zagreb, and Stanislav Bender from the Agency for Electronic Media.
The discussion concerned the ways in which distrust in science and the media - as the most important modern sources of knowledge about the world - proved to be a widespread and current problem in the crisis conditions of pandemic and war, and how disinformation gained an equal "voice" in the public.
Speaking about disinformation, Dražen Hoffmann also presented the multidisciplinary project "Pro-fact: Research, education, fact-check and debunk COVID-19 related disinformation narratives in Croatia", led by Gong. The project comprehensively approaches the social, political and health problem of the spread of COVID-19 disinformation campaigns through research, awareness-raising and capacity-building, together with partners the Faculty of Political Sciences in Zagreb, the University of Dubrovnik, Faktograf.hr, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and associates consisting of the Croatian Journalists society (HND) and the Union of Croatian Journalists (SNH).
