In order to better understand the COVID-19 disinformation ecosystem and the actors that are inside it, Gong has published the research of Mato Brautović, a professor from the University of Dubrovnik, called "Mapping Covid-19 Disinformation Ecosystem in Croatia".
The social network analysis aimed to identify Croatian sources of disinformation (websites, blogs, groups on social networks and media) related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to investigate the reach and size of the public accessing such disinformation sources.
The results showed two clearly separated groups of disinformation actors on Facebook: influential actors who create content and super-spreaders who share the content of influential disinformation. Strong communities are formed around such influential actors that are able to quickly spread misinformation.
